Life Trying to Knock You Out?

me vs life

Here’s a reminder to anyone who can relate not to throw in the towel yet.

You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary…so you can know who you are, and what you can rise from.

–Maya Angelou

(My guess is life wears a hat and smokes Cuban cigars.)

Inspire Me, Inspiration You!

As you walk down the street, or flick your hair, or move your feet, or throw your hands in the air, a work of art is being based on you.

As you work your way up and pave your way though, someone is rooting for you.

As you do something as simple as being yourself, you're inspiring someone right now. So do us all a favor and keep doing that; keep being an inspiration, keep being YOU.

Inspiring Words from The Oscars

For the first time in forever, I was actually touched by some of the acceptance speeches at the Oscars last night. From Leto to Blanchett, there was inspiration and a sense of sincerity in their words. Here are some of my favorites.

When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.

-Lupita Nyong’o

To all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight in places like Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say we are here and as you struggle to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible, we’re thinking of you tonight… And this is for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you.

-Jared Leto

To the audiences who went to see the film and perhaps those of us in the industry who are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female films, with women at the center, are niche experiences, they are not. Audiences want to see them and, in fact, they earn money.

-Cate Blanchett

It’s important that we understand our history so we can understand who we were and who we are now and most importantly who we’re going to be… We hope that this film remains a gentle reminder that we’re all equal. We all want the same: Dignity and opportunity.

-Brad Pitt

Everyone deserves not just to survive, but to live. This is the most important legacy of Solomon Northup. This is for all the people who have endured slavery, and the 21 million people who still endure slavery today.

-Steve McQueen

It Is Never Too Late

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

–Version written by Eric Roth – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Screenplay

Great movie, great quote. I keep coming back to these words when searching for motivation and inspiration. Never fails.
