11 little-known facts about my blogging life

  • by

So I thought I’d make this post a reintroduction. For the old readers and the new ones landing on this blog, whatever the reason may be, allow me to reintroduce myself with these little-known (or not known at all) facts about me!

  1. I am part of the first wave of bloggers from the early 2000’s. I first started posting my writings online on AOL Journals, soon transitioning to Myspace blog, and eventually stopping for a while. My journals consisted of just poems and “waking” thoughts.
  1. In 2009, after watching the movie Julie & Julia, I was inspired to pick up blogging again. I created my first blog, MySummerHair and it was essentially a fun blog (more like a diary) about my curly hair journey. It didn’t take long until I craved talking about more serious stuff, so I created three more blogs to reflect my passions: Clear Quiet Thoughts (thoughts and poetry), This Must Be Heard! (trending news), and SOATD (my amateur art). Two of those blogs were short lived, but soon I came up with yet more blogs: Small Busted (body image) and Vado a Spain (living and traveling in Spain). Is your head spinning yet?
  1. My official website (this one) was born once I realized I could express myself in different ways under one domain — but also because I wanted an official author page!
  1. Originally, other than serving as my author page, I meant to continue posting my amateur art on here, but I have too much to say to keep it that short. : )
  1. Most of my inspiration for my poetry comes from real life experiences, be it my own or other people’s. I also think the world around me is my canvas.
  1. I’m most motivated and inspired to create late at night under dim light.
  1. My first self-published book was actually a children’s book, which made sense at the time, but still even surprises me today.
  1. Three of my self-published short stories are in Spanish; written, translated, and edited by me.
  1. As a slow reader and someone with a short attention span, I never finish a book in one sitting. But interestingly enough, Fifty Shades was not only one book but the first trilogy that I finished in record time. Shhhhhh!
  1. Fact number 9 has got me thinking if I, perhaps, have been writing in the wrong genre.
  1. I keep work-related and submission rejection letters in a folder explicitly titled rejection letters — because there’s no better fuel.

So there it is, the unknown facts I chose to share today. I’m always interested in learning about the root of things and would love to read more similar posts on here. Feel free to share!
