Not Another Inspirational Quote – Excerpt

I’m currently finishing up a little book of words of motivation, hopefully inspiration, and encouragement. It’s called Not Another Inspirational Quote: 100-something Relatable Life Lessons.

I wanted to give you a little sneak preview, but the phrases are short and I don’t want to give them all away…yet. So here’s part of the introduction to the book so that you know what to expect.

It remains a mystery to me how those overused sayings, catchphrases, mottos, or however you label them, somehow have stayed relevant forever and ever. And, of course, inspirational quotes—hated by many, mostly loved by all. The internet is filled with them. Social media can’t keep up. We don’t even know who really said what anymore. But one thing is certain: we the word lovers can’t get enough.

Affirmations are comforting and reassuring. No matter how many times you hear someone say that “it’s going to be okay,” it is even more reassuring when you realize a million other people are posting about it because they, too, are going through a difficult time. Not that I’d be happy to hear that people are struggling, but something about it makes us feel less alone.

For whatever earth-shifting reason, we’re more open to showing our wounds now. We’re healing together and sharing the process. And we’re doing that through motivating, encouraging, empowering messages. It’s a movement that I have proudly joined.

All the blog posts I’ve written about positivity, hopes, experiences, and life lessons, I’ve done so for others as much as I have written them for myself. We don’t need to travel this long human journey alone. Everyone could use a little push up the hill on their day-to-day! And that’s when words of wisdom play their part.

To be honest, some of my own words I have yet to put into practice. I’m in no way claiming to be wiser than the next woman. I’m no “know-it-all” at all. This all comes from a work in progress who, while telling others that everything is going to be all right, is deep in doubts and wiping away her own tears.

But I have, somehow, made it through some rough times in life and lived to share my findings—and I want to share it with those climbing the same ladder.

This is nothing but a little reminder that we’re all connected by the same human experiences, and learning from others can positively influence our next adventure.
