Maybe just chill out

Sometimes, you give too much importance to the irrelevant. Talking about “turn the negative into positive” is always valid and encouraging advice, but how about just letting people feel what they feel at the moment?

We’re constantly trying to get in people’s heads and trying to “fix it.” I might be guilty of this, to be honest. However, when giving advice, I always try to respect the thin line between positive and toxic positivity. I give advice out of personal experiences only, never expecting everyone to take it or understand it. My words are for those who can relate — and hopefully those who, while they can’t relate, would find it useful.

I’d never force my beliefs on anyone, nor would I vouch for something I’ve never tried myself.

This thought today was inspired by social media because there are so many [hashtag] ‘words to live by’ out there basically echoing one another. So many quotes… (Ironically, I just wrote a quote book that is now making me think, is it realistic advice?! I hope it is!) I know we humans tend to want to get in other people’s heads because we’re curious creatures. We’re constantly trying to understand our inner workings — and some of us more than others.

There is nothing wrong with that. But sometimes you just have to let it be.

“Living in the moment” is actually one of the most accurate quotes out there, one that makes perfect sense. I mean, where else if not now can you consciously live?

The future is unknown, the past is gone, and the present… the present is all we know.

So maybe don’t worry so much about feeling certain way today. Maybe, for once, don’t worry so much about how today’s feeling is going to affect tomorrow. It’s okay to take a mental break. So, dear child of the universe, just chill. Maybe for tonight, you. can. just. chill.
