Playing with Words – Also Known as Writing a Book

Writing my first book ever! In trying to find motivation and tips, I have been searching the Web and reading books. It surprises me how many writers guide you through the “safe” path. The same ol’ usual lame path. I’d like to mix it up a little and play with writing! I’m not writing a novel or vampire stories (are we done with vampires yet?), but I think I can make it with my unusual stories, my own writing style. There is an audience for every like. Everyone is different. Besides, language evolves. A book doesn’t have to be written in Shakespeare’s “language” in order to succeed. Who would understand it today anyway?!

But I did find a book that I love. The name of the book is “How to become a famous writer before you’re dead” by Ariel Gore. I have no idea who she is, but I’ve found her to be very motivational. Her tone, her personal experience…it is exactly what I needed.

I will most definitely write in Spanish, as well, and will probably need some advice on what is out there for my people and need to learn as much as I can about Hispanic literature in general. I have read several books, but it is literature from the 17th-20th century (my favorite is Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz). I would like to learn more about modern Latino writers. Any information is appreciated!
