Thorny Seduction

Doing this in pieces was not how I planned it, but life is not a straight road in the desert; it is a busy street under construction in New York City! And I’m trying my best.

What I’m trying to say is, my writing projects keep getting interrupted because sometimes I have to work on other equally crucial projects — such as a day job. But as the teacher takes her break, the writer is back at it to pick up where she left off.

Last year, I started working on something I called Seduce Me to Use and I’m very excited to get back to it this summer. I posted a poem on the blog last year, as well, which was inspired by this short story and you can read it here: The Nerve. It’s one of my favorites.

I’m hoping to publish other short stories as I continue on this writing journey, but in the meantime, I thought I’d share some rough independent lines from Seduce Me to Use Me. Hope they intrigue you enough to make you want to read the full book! 😉

Seduce Me to Use Me (Excerpt)

No one told me that there would be consequences for careless thinking.

I don’t know what I was thinking. It was like jumping in a cage with hungry lions and then expecting to come out of it alive.

When that adrenaline rush and the urge to act up set in, you’re going to be your stupid self regardless because, after all, you, too, are hungry.

What kind of narcissist can’t see through your vulnerability at the crack of dawn?

I never thought it was possible to refuse to do something so fervently and then end up loving it so…fervently.

Perhaps, the most puzzling part of it all is that it all happened in seasons, and not even full seasons.

I had too much to offer. Loyalty he didn’t earn. Hope I shouldn’t have. Love I didn’t expect to grow in my heart.

Selective, certainly, are the memories, for if in their actual natural inclusive order they flowed, there’d be no doubt in my mind…and my heart.

I went out there and got my heart broken on purpose more than once, and it was all thanks to expectations. But this time, it was thanks to…(I’ll get to that later.)

Stay tuned!
