Your Flawless Small Chest

Somehow I landed on this plastic surgery TV show in Spain and thought it was necessary for me to share this image. This lady went back to her surgeon after her left implant deflated. She had to go through a couple of procedures to remove the sagging skin around her chest because, after all, the size of her implants had to be reduced.

First, I couldn’t help but notice the size that she went for originally. It’s so disproportional to her body, what did she expect? I wonder if she ever tipped over. Second, I can never understand why any woman would go to this length, through this trouble, any size, just to fit in this imaginary beauty standard that exists in our society. It’s all bullsh*t. Women don’t think of the consequences and health risks, even though they know they exist, just to fit in. I want to feel bad for them, but I don’t. It is a conscious choice they make.

And, obviously, I’m talking about cosmetics, not reconstructive surgery.

I just want all the girls reading this, who may be considering breast implants, to ask themselves: why am I doing it? Men aren’t worth this much trouble! The lady in the picture now has a scarred chest for the rest of her life – I don’t see how that can be prettier than your own flawless skin, smaller chest and all.

Much love and stay true to yourselves.

Some of you know I am a fierce supporter of positive body image and natural beauty. Being a small girl myself, I’ve had to take a stand against society’s ridiculous beauty standards. I wrote FLAT: LIVING SMALL IN LARGE AMERICA as a reminder of my pledge to refuse to “fit in” if this is what it takes and to encourage other girls/women to do the same.
